All events in one day

All in one day, I found out that my neighbor locked himself out, my roommate got a flat tire, and I got the DNA I wanted from patient samples. On top of that, I had to manage a few different projects at work--a summer student, give advice to younger students, troubleshoot my own work, delegate another student's project, teach, figure out protocols. Oh and worry about my significant other's day at work, whether he's cooking or eating okay, the status of his late computer project. Is it me or does part of growing up involve multitasking more and more things? I cannot imagine what my boss deals with on a regular basis. Imagine running a lab and having 3 kids and a hubby! or add clinic duties to that. I hope one's fluid intelligence (the ability to hold multiple things in the working memory) increases with practice such as managing these tasks. Sometimes, amidst the chaos, it's quite nice to be able to sit down to concentrate on one task at a time.

MBP '11

MBP has been truly awesome. The machine i have is running a year old and I've only had one "BSOD" which is really caused by Symantec antivirus. Did I mention antivirus is unnecessary for the most part on a Mac. Sadly though, i will be apart from it for a few days to get it fixed--the screen has a red line running down the left side. I wonder if it's truly some glitch in the cable or possibly in the screen itself. But soon enough, it won't matter...new mbps are coming out every year. quite exciting.

Also, one does not know much the value of the FACScan until it's gone. This good old machine is so good for basic flow--even its one laser system beast the other crazy LSR II machine that can't allow us to use PE, PI, PE-Cy7 together.
